Rugby season kicks off

The 2019 Waikato Mitre 10 Cup season is set to kick off next month, with the first game beginning at home against Mitre 10 Cup Premiership Runners up Canterbury at FMG Stadium Waikato on Saturday 10 August.

The competition will be played across 10 weeks this season with no team having to play twice in one week.

Waikato will host Premiership sides Auckland (Saturday 31 August) and Tasman (Saturday 21 September) plus Championship sides Hawke’s Bay (Thursday 12 September) and Taranaki the final regular season home game on (Sunday 6 October).

The remaining away matches will be against Bay of Plenty (Sunday 18 August), Counties Manukau (Saturday 24 August), North Harbour (Saturday 7 September), a potential Ranfurly Shield rematch against current holders Otago (Sunday 29 September) and Waikato will finish off the regular season in Wellington (Saturday 12 October).
